A federal judge has cleared the way for a New York offshore wind project to resume construction. It’s a victory for the developer who said a Trump administration order to pause it would likely kill the project in a matter of days.
Antrim Wind, a nine-turbine wind farm in Antrim, has been providing renewable energy to the region for six years and has provided a financial benefit to the town, while also addressing environmental concerns with wildlife protection measures and noise mitigation.
BnM (formerly Bord na Móna) is building the third phase of the country’s biggest wind farm at Oweninny, Bellacorrick, Co Mayo. To make way for this, the company decommissioned the original wind turbines there, which have been operating since 1992 and generated enough electricity to power up to 4,500 homes.
